Hi & welcome to our updated web page. South Coast Surf Boats is still a family owned business. I’ve been a part of the business since we bought it over 5 years ago. Some of you may know me but for those who don’t I’m Jase (Molly) Bean.

I’ve been racing boats since I was a 15 year old at the mighty Mollymook club in NSW and now you can find me at Kings Beach on the Sunshine Coast better known as Metropolitan Caloundra.

With over 17 years experience as a rower & now as a sweep I believe I have a bit to offer, to our business & you, our client. To the clubs that have remained loyal to South Coast Surf Boats over the years, I thank you. For those who don’t know much about us come & have a look.

South coast surf boats are unique in their construction. We use a single skin FGI tested system in our hull which is extremely durable & hard wearing, thus making our boat hulls low maintenance & prolonging the racing life of your clubs investment. Also being less prone to trailer damage, ware & tear in every day use. The internal construction of our boats also stand alone, we are able to offer changes to seat & sweep deck height, floor configurations & pump locations our customers often ask for. We can construct any internal imaginable as long as it meets ASLS specifications. The construction of our boats has recently been relocated to the Sunshine Coast where we have over 50 years of boat building & fibreglass experience working on your clubs new pride & joy.

We offer our clients the choice of 2 proven racing hull shapes. The Red mould “the fastest waterline surf boat on the market” is the original Roger Ninham design developed in conjunction with Bert Hunt & Gus McDonald. And now all red mould boats will come with our “Flared Bow” as standard feature. The flared bow offers greater lift & water dispersing abilities, keeping your boat dryer on the way to sea. Our flared bow has featured in some recent Australian Title Finals with Bulli Reserve grade, A grade & U/19’s & Batemans Bay Vikings A grade.

The Black mould is more of your “traditional surf boat” shape, having more of a banana shape to it lifting the bow in the surf. Also she is a little wider in the bow & mid section making the black mould a much more stable surf boat. The black mould boat has more of a yacht shape with a reverse tuck giving her a longer water line.

Standard items on our boats are the wide gunwales, for ease of carrying on the beach & helping deflect water away from the boat. Side extended foot stretchers, giving you a larger area for your foot when starting a race. To keep up with our competitors we now have changed our rowlock block system giving you a choice of 3 rowlock positions. We still offer our clients a choice in pumps but we prefer to use Johnson 4000 pumps. Large pumps clear water out of the boat much more efficiently getting you back up to speed sooner. You also have the option of fitting a nose cone to the front of your boat, without the brass strip all boats are suffering without protection and with a nose cone that can be easily attached to any of your boats red or black you’ll be saving the life of your boat. All of these improvements have come from listening to you, the rowers & sweeps.
